JUNE 2016 -  BERKSHIRE COUNTY CALENDAR OF EVENTS

June 1 - July 30   THE TAMING
Shakespeare & Company
70 Kemble Street
- Lenox, MA
(413) 637-3353
Inside the heightened, cheerfully absurd world of The Taming, Gunderson spanks America’s sound-bite politics, wrestles with a Shakespeare-inspired, playful and problematic battle of the sexes, and proves the point that true debate is hot. In a hilarious red-state versus blue-state comedy originally inspired by the banter in The Taming of the Shrew, America’s overheated political rhetoric is exposed through the passions of three slightly insane women who just might be revolutionary geniuses.

It is misleading for long term health to follow trends that promote the idea that one’s diet and lifestyle must be Spartan to be healthy - avoiding all good tasting foods, never touching a drink, etc. In all things, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

On Father’s Day we look at key areas of concern in men’s health including hormonal (sexual health) and heart disease. John Kozinski, MEA will explain diet and lifestyle practices to help keep men healthy based on 40 years of experience working with men to self-heal, and maintain good health and energy.

Topics include:
•Why the right kind of fats are healthy
•Why science has reversed its position due to new findings that cholesterol rich foods are good for men
•What nutrients protect health
•Which popular dietary practices are bad for health and which are good
•Lifestyle practices for optimum male health
•The benefits of supplements and herbs for self-healing and health maintenance

John Kozinski is a natural heath teacher, health counselor, researcher and author since 1976. He has a private health practice www.macrobiotic.com and taught at a natural health institute for 27 years.

A tale of two young women, both named Jane. One is an awkward middle schooler with body odor and epic skills for The Oregon Trail computer game. The other Jane is the woman in the game, living through the hardships of trail life with her family. Looking at the impact of memory and the legacy of sadness across generations, the play weaves parallel stories of survival, and asks the age-old question – do you want to ford the river? WAM is proud to present Brunstetter’s funny, imaginative and poignant play, which had it’s world premiere at the 2015 Women’s Voices Theatre Festival in Washington D.C.

The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center is pleased to present a new Film Noir Classics Series sponsored by Deb and Bill Ryan. A cinematic style popularized through 1940s and ‘50s crime dramas, film noir is distinct in its dark visuals and themes, and often employs low-key lighting and cynical plots. “Film noir” is French for “black film” but is rooted in German Expressionist cinematography. Joseph Cotten portrays Holly Martins, a writer swept into a murder mystery in The Third Man, a 1949 British film noir. Based on screenwriter Graham Greene’s novel of the same name, The Third Man is celebrated for its acting, score, and cinematography.
