SEASONAL
CARDS IN DRY
BRUSH
WATERCOLOR
Berkshire
Botanical
Gardens
5 West
Stockbridge
Street
-
Stockbridge, MA (413)
298-3926
This Holiday
Card
workshop
will focus
on using dry
brush
watercolor
to replicate
the colors
and the form
of the
Season's
Flora. We
will work
with
seasonal
plants such
as
poinsettias,
ivy, or
laurel. Dry
brush is a
watercolor
painting
technique
used in
traditional
botanical
illustration.
The method
involves a
"skin" of
dried paint
on the
palette and
a small,
slightly
damp brush.
Techniques
to be
covered:
color mixing
and
layering,
working from
light to
dark, adding
fine detail,
using a dry
brush. We
will also
create
botanical
tints for
the base
layer, which
will
generate
shape by
adding a
luminous
shadow.

The Elephant
in The Room
is the tale
of a nice
Jewish girl
who goes on
a
psychedelic
odyssey
though
Pentecostal
churches,
psych wards,
the Ivy
League and
12-step
meetings
that finally
brings her
closer to
God, herself
and a
resolution
of
intergenerational
trauma. But
Funny! And
with music!
At fifteen,
Melanie
Greenberg
pawned her
mother’s fur
coat, ran
away from
home on the
Upper East
Side and
took up with
a family of
Pentecostal
born-agains
in Houston.
In her quest
for freedom,
Greenberg
unwittingly
set off a
chain of
events that
would
imprison her
literally
and
figuratively
for decades
to come.
From the
psych ward
to a
cult-like
“therapeutic”
boarding
school for
troubled
youth, to
the Ivy
League, to
rehab,
Melanie
Greenberg
spent her
adolescence
and early
adulthood
moving
through the
full
spectrum of
American
institutions,
all while
trying to
make sense
of a fraught
relationship
with her
mother.
Narrated
through the
context of a
psychedelic
ayahuasca
trip,
one-woman
musical The
Elephant in
the Room
outlines
this
revelatory
experience
in brutally
honest and
often
hilarious
detail, all
while paying
tribute to
the
showtunes
that helped
Greenberg
survive the
whole
ordeal.
By marrying
trauma with
music and
comedy, The
Elephant In
The Room
acts as the
narrator’s
invitation
to the
audience to
reshape and
reclaim
their own
stories. The
process of
creating
this work
has only
served to
deepen
Melanie’s
belief that
sharing
stories is
the key to
understanding
ourselves
and others.
What People
Are Saying
About
Elephant in
the Room:
“The show’s
surprises
and its
power comes
from its
author/star’s
talent at
weaving...episodes
into a
thematically
and
artistically
coherent
cabaret-like
evening and
putting it
all across
with verve,
charm and
plenty of
humor.” Jon
Sobel,
blogcritics
“With a
light touch
and a smart
wit, through
showing us
one woman’s
journey, The
Elephant in
the Room
shines a
light on all
of ours.”
Jon Sobel,
blogcritics
“Unignorably
funny.”
Adrienne
Sowers, The
Reviews Hub
“A revealing
story told
with a rare
fragrant
blend of
humor and
hard-earned
wisdom, a
vulnerable
humility and
touching
flair for
song and
bombast.”

The Elephant
in The Room
is the tale
of a nice
Jewish girl
who goes on
a
psychedelic
odyssey
though
Pentecostal
churches,
psych wards,
the Ivy
League and
12-step
meetings
that finally
brings her
closer to
God, herself
and a
resolution
of
intergenerational
trauma. But
Funny! And
with music!
At fifteen,
Melanie
Greenberg
pawned her
mother’s fur
coat, ran
away from
home on the
Upper East
Side and
took up with
a family of
Pentecostal
born-agains
in Houston.
In her quest
for freedom,
Greenberg
unwittingly
set off a
chain of
events that
would
imprison her
literally
and
figuratively
for decades
to come.
From the
psych ward
to a
cult-like
“therapeutic”
boarding
school for
troubled
youth, to
the Ivy
League, to
rehab,
Melanie
Greenberg
spent her
adolescence
and early
adulthood
moving
through the
full
spectrum of
American
institutions,
all while
trying to
make sense
of a fraught
relationship
with her
mother.
Narrated
through the
context of a
psychedelic
ayahuasca
trip,
one-woman
musical The
Elephant in
the Room
outlines
this
revelatory
experience
in brutally
honest and
often
hilarious
detail, all
while paying
tribute to
the
showtunes
that helped
Greenberg
survive the
whole
ordeal.
By marrying
trauma with
music and
comedy, The
Elephant In
The Room
acts as the
narrator’s
invitation
to the
audience to
reshape and
reclaim
their own
stories. The
process of
creating
this work
has only
served to
deepen
Melanie’s
belief that
sharing
stories is
the key to
understanding
ourselves
and others.
What People
Are Saying
About
Elephant in
the Room:
“The show’s
surprises
and its
power comes
from its
author/star’s
talent at
weaving...episodes
into a
thematically
and
artistically
coherent
cabaret-like
evening and
putting it
all across
with verve,
charm and
plenty of
humor.” Jon
Sobel,
blogcritics
“With a
light touch
and a smart
wit, through
showing us
one woman’s
journey, The
Elephant in
the Room
shines a
light on all
of ours.”
Jon Sobel,
blogcritics
“Unignorably
funny.”
Adrienne
Sowers, The
Reviews Hub
“A revealing
story told
with a rare
fragrant
blend of
humor and
hard-earned
wisdom, a
vulnerable
humility and
touching
flair for
song and
bombast.”

DAR
WILLIAMS
The
Stationary
Factory
63 Flansburg
Avenue
-
Dalton,
MA (413)
659-6299
An evening
with author
and
singer-songwriter
Dar
Williams.
“One of
America’s
very best” -
The New
Yorker.
About this
event
Doors 6:30
pm
Dar
Williams’
lyrics
contain
bouquets of
optimism,
delivered on
melodies
alternating
between
beguiling
lightness
and
understated
gravity.
Williams
strongly
believes
that all of
us possess
our own
power and
ability to
achieve, and
she rejects
the
exceptionalism
that
encourages
us to
“admire that
yonder
star,” while
making us
feel small
and
insignificant;
unworthy of
shining on
our own but
hoping to
catch enough
distant
light to
inspire some
tiny
accomplishment.
Williams has
always been
very
interested
in how to
control our
future and
this album
has to do
with the
fact that at
some point,
you just
can’t.
Come share a
calm and
cozy winter
evening with
friends, and
enjoy the
warm
melodies of
author and
singer-songwriter
Dar
Williams!
